Eagles Ethical Code

Eagles Delicadeza and Moral Code of Ethics

Every Eagle shall adhere to the Eagles Ethical Code now popularly known as the Eagles Delicadeza and Moral Code of Ethics.

Every Eagle shall make oath that he shall take no court action on any grievance against the Philippine Eagles, his Club or his fellow members but shall be obliged to take a leave of absence from his Club or from the Philippine Eagles in case of irreconcilable conflict or difference with any of them. His leave of absence shall be construed as the ultimate redress of his grievance.

Why do we need an Ethical Code?

We need some ethical code or delicadeza because we know there are others looking at us. The cornerstone of the Eagles Delicadeza and Moral Code of Ethics is the Eagle's conscience.

"Conscience is nothing but other people inside you". (Luigi Pirandillo, Each in his own way)

"There is only one way to achieve happiness in this terrestrial hall, and that is to have either a clear conscience or non at all" (Olden Nash, I'm a Stranger here Myself)

"Conscience is, in most men, an anticipation of the opinion of others" (Sir Henry Taylor, The Statesman)

"Ethics is the maintaining of life at the highest point of life at the highest point of development-my own life, and other life-by devoting myself to it in help and love, and both these things are connected. And this ethics, profound, universal, has the significance of a religion, it is religion."(Alexander Schweiter)

"Conduct is three-fourths of our life and its largest concern" (Matthew Arnold: Literature and Drama)

Eagles Desideratum

" The Philippine Eagles shall seek and construct their humanitarian service, usefulness and destiny in the Philippines geared to benefit primarily their needy people and community. They are strongly committed to render personal service for the betterment of the Philippine community and its people. They shall sacrifice and do battle to achieve their goals. They shall give no excuses, as they have hereby set the innovative tone of chance which shall present a matter-of-fact humanitarian service to the needy sectors of the Philippine society intensely determined in the light of local environment and necessity. They shall give dignity to this battle and crusade by doing and practicing what they hereby strongly set and desire"

What I basically ought to know as an EAGLE

Fraternal Civic Movement

The Philippine Eagles is a movement, an idea kindled by the founders- to nurture with the fire of brotherhood, spearheaded by zealous organizers from the members of the society clamoring for a change in vision and concept-to widen its horizons- to forever forge an amalgam of the rare breed of fellows amidst an apochrypal panorama, common yet unique, simple but a stand out, proud but not meek, singular but not alone, selected yet not confined and daring yet grandiose and sure.

We are most aware of many organizations in our milieu that have come and gone, many of slam-bang caput, as they say, starting with a boom and ending in a whisper. The Philippine Eagles shall have realized those portents and early signs of doom by a careful analysis of its steps and actions. As to that, there can be no debate.

BIRTH GENESIS

The beginning of the history of the Philippine Eagles will tell the following:

Birth : Circa 1979
Dateline : June 22 and 23 at 7:00 PM or thereabouts
Where : Aberdeen Court at Quezon City Philippines

What is EAGLEISM

1.) Eagleism is not found in any old or modern lexicon. It is a word peculiar to the Fraternal Order of Eagles (Philippine Eagles) which has genuinely evolved as a fraternalism. The fraternal "ism" in the Philippine Eagles has sprung from its declaration of policies and objectives seeking to "establish a strong bond of brotherhood and fraternal ties among the members as keystone to service". It is an institutional declaration clearly articulated in its guiding principle which is SERVICE THROUGH STRONG BROTHERHOOD.

2.) Eagleism is humanitarianism which shall be an ethical commitment or concern for human welfare or relations in general and shall be expressed in philanthropic activities or interest in social reforms.

3.) Eagleism is civic national"ism". In declaration of goals and objectives forged in 1979, the Philippine Eagles declares that it shall be "emblazed with intense mission of service to country, its people and its community". The declaration has been reiterated in the Eagles Constitution now part of the Eagles Magna Carta.

4.) Eagleism is something more. In the declaration of policies and objectives of the Philippine Eagles, it says that the Philippine Eagles shall be:

E - Enligthened and innovative humanitarian
A - Animated primarily by a strong bond of brotherhood and fraternal ties
G - God loving , non-sectarian
L - Law-abiding liberty-oriented, non-political
E - Emblazed with intense mission of
S - Service to country, its people and community

5.) Finally, Eagleism "shall mean reliability of the Eagles commitment to a brother Eagle" exemplified in what the Philippine Eagles institutionally calls the Alalayang Agila. In such Alalayan, the Eagles "shall have shared each other's problems or moments of importance and shall have expanded and enhanced their sense and spirit of brotherhood". It is perhaps synonyms to bayanihan but it "shall transcend the mere supportive sense of helping a brother Eagle".
